2024 Mercedes Benz Sprinter CDI 319
The Mercedes Benz Sprinter has a unique place in Icelandic mountaineering history. It is one of the few vehicles, and especially vans, that can take a significant wheel modification without replacing the entire chassis. Quite a few changes are required, including some changes and cuts to the frame, but the vehicle can retain the original chassis despite the significant wheel upgrade. It has a 9-speed gearbox with a very low 1st-gear ratio, supporting the wheel conversion when needed most. It has proven a very reliable vehicle, both the old and this new design. As a result of all of this, most highland bus travel occurs in a Mercedes Benz Sprinter converted van, but this is the first time anyone has offered a camper-modified version for the independent experience.
The Monster 4×4 Super Camper is unique to CampEasy, and nothing like it is available at any other rental in Iceland. On the outside, we’ve got a massively raised chassis, roof rack, roof ladder, enormous tires, and a mounted spare. From the factory, we buy the Business version, sporting heated seats, rain sensors, adaptive fog lights, 92L fuel tank, reverse camera, suspended driver’s seat, crosswind assist, leatherette seating, additional USB and wireless charging, heated mirrors, heated windows, and much more. It has a premium feel when sitting up front. Now sporting a 32″ Android Smart TV, a dedicated 5G mobile antenna, and a dedicated 5G Teltonika router. These dedicated hardware additions to the vehicle's connectivity have proven a significant upgrade when traveling into areas with a limited cell signal, like the Highlands of Iceland.
On top of all that, we’ve added a 4kw sinus inverter and a whopping 200AH of lithium battery storage. You can now use all your electronics directly: 5V USB, 12V cigarette, and the classic 230V. And you are now entirely independent from the electric grid even for larger electronics, and with an added porta potty, you can go completely "off the grid." The Icelandic highlands hide difficult-to-access experiences, and there's nothing quite like making that journey look easy on a Monster. A Monster made for nothing else.
We've gone with nothing but the best for the overall design and build of the camper in the back. Working from the Easy Luxury design, you have the pullout sofa with a quick and easy table mounting. Multiple wall outlets are clearly separated for "Stored energy" and "Main power." Stored energy drains your camper batteries (never the engine battery), and the main power outlets allow you to hook up to the main power directly at campsites, bypassing the batteries and charging the batteries at the same time. You have a built-in capsule coffee press, 50 meters of LED strip lighting with multiple different light modes, multiple fridges, multiple small outlets with high-power USB, a centralized controller for lights and heating, and much more.
It’s Iceland’s first “go big or go home” camper van available for rent.
