Ása Steinars is our local Icelander, not many people know the countryside better than she does. Born and raised in Iceland, Ása has left no mountain top, waterfall or hot spring unexplored and she’ll be leading us on this journey to show us her best-kept Icelandic secrets.
Leo Alsved is the adventure master and experience curator. He has spent the last 10 years creating everything from big sailing festivals to boutique ski events deep in the Arctic. His close friends have learned that whenever Leo hosts an event, all they have to do is show up and enjoy the ride.

Every event is hosted by two amazing guides. They will be first at the campsite every day to welcome you with open arms, cold beers and hot BBQ’s.
We curate our guides from local experts and great friends, all masters at hosting events and creating unforgettable experiences.
Closer to the start of the event we will let you know who will be your guides for the week. Please note that Ása & Leo will join some events but not all of them.

How it works
1. PICK YOUR VAN
Gather your friends and book a van. We got sizes for 2, 3 & 4 people. Prices start at €680/person.
2. FLY TO ICELAND
Here you get your van and start driving. We follow the ring road that circumnavigates all of Iceland.
3. DRIVE & EXPLORE
By day we explore Iceland. Drive on your own or follow Ása & Leo to their favourite spots, you decide.
4. EVENING CAMPS
We set up a camp each evening and gather everyone. Expect BBQ, bonfires, music and good vibes.
5. ALL THE MAGIC
We got a sunset whale watching tour, pop-up bars, secret hot springs and much more planned for you.
6. FRIENDS
We will be 15 vans filled with explorers from all over the world. We can guarantee you’ll make many new friends and create memories for a life time!

Our itinerary around Iceland
Day by day, this is some of the stuff we will be up to.
Day 1
REYKJAVIK – SELJALANDSFOSS
Pick up your campervan and hit the road. Our frist camp site is about 2h drive away but there’s plenty to explore on the way. We recommend going for a hot spring hike and visit some waterfalls on the way. It’s also a good idea to stock up on some food and drinks for the van.
Day 2
SOUTH COAST
We explore the south coast and all its waterfalls. You’ve got a smörgåsbord of amazing nature just by the road. It’s all simple access and a few hikes available if you want to. End the day in Vik on the famous black beach or perhaps go for a tandem paraglide flight in the sunset!
Day 3
GLACIERS & ICEBERGS
We continue east into Vatnajökull natural park and the glacier territory. Stop at the famous glacier lagoon and walk between icebergs on Diamond Beach. We highly recommend the glacier hike. It’s an incredible experience walking on the ice, seeing the ice falls and climbing through cracks with ice axes and crampons.
Day 4
EAST COAST
Wake up in a remote camp site after a night around the bonfire. We continue east towards Höfn, the lobster capital of Iceland. On the way go for a hike to Svartifoss or chill in the hot springs in Hoffel, or both. We will also visit Stokknes, a beautiful black beach before lobster dinner in Höfn.
Day 5
THE FJORDS
Welcome to the beautiful East Fjords of Iceland, surrounded by high mountains and water all around. We camp in Seydisfjördur, the most picturesque fjord of Iceland. This is also home to an amazing sushi restaurant serving fresh fish from the local fishermen, a great spot for dinner.
Day 6
WHALE SAFARI & SUNSET SAIL
The day starts with a drive through the biggest volcanic desert in Europe. Endless black lava fields before you reach the ocean and Husavik on the other side. On the way there’s of course a hot spring to bath in as well as a geothermal area. We finish the day with whale watching and dinner.
Day 7
HORSE BACK RIDING
It’s the last day before heading back to Reykjavik. We have a few more hot springs to explore and option to go horse back riding on Iceland horses through a beautiful valley. Then we gather for the last night together, BBQ at the camp site and hang around the bonfire. A magical week has come to an end but feel free to stay a few days in Reykjavik before flying out.

During your week in Iceland, an estimate for what you’ll spend is something like this:
We do not sell solo spots, only vans and it’s up to you as a guest to find someone to travel with (if you want to).
Our small vans are great for one person and we usually have solo travelers joining us in them.
If you pick a bigger van, the price is always for full occupancy. Meaning that if a van costs €1500/person and can host 2 ppl, then the total price of the van is €3000. This doesn’t change if you book it as one person or two.
Our events are for anyone who wants to live in a van for a week and explore Iceland together with a group of great people.
We are open-minded, love to meet new friends and inclusive to everybody.
Our events are designed for 20-45 years old
Yes, we stay at campsites each evening that have bathrooms and showers available for all guests. So you will have access to showers daily and we will also visit many hot springs during the week so it’s easy to stay fresh during Vanlife Iceland.
The way Vanlife Iceland works is that our guides recommend our favorite spots each day. Then it’s up to you to explore as you like.
We don’t have a set itinerary you have to follow and we encourage you to explore and find your own adventure.
If you want to follow our guides, that’s of course ok too. Every evening we all gather at the campsite. We set up a BBQ, bonfire and music and enjoy the evening together.
