Terms & Policies
CampEasy Terms
Cancellation Policy
There is no charge if you cancel your reservation with at least 24 hours before pick up.
Once you cancel your booking on the website, please reach out to us by email at campeasy@campeasy.com to start the refund process.
We will always pay you back if you choose Fully Refundable. However, there are a couple of exceptions when there’s a 2-year delay in refund. First, in the case of a pandemic which causes Iceland to lock down. Second, when a volcanic eruption happens. In such scenarios, CampEasy reserves the right to process the refund for a period of up to 2 years. Alternatively, you can receive CampEasy credit by freezing your booking for future use.
If you don’t cancel within 24 hours before pick up and don’t show up we retain 30% of the total order amount.
You are not able to change your booking if there are less than 24 hours until your booking starts. You are not able to shorten your rental once your rental has started. If you wish to lengthen your rental, we will try to accommodate, but it will depend on availability.
Non-Refundable bookings are not refundable after the purchase has been made. For non-refundable bookings, we do offer the option to freeze the booking with us. You can select any new dates, as long as one of the new dates contains at least one day that falls into the same, or cheaper, seasonal price as your original booking.
Rules
Early Returns
Refunds for early returns are only possible if we get notified 24 hours before the start of the rental.
AGE REQUIREMENT AND DRIVERS LICENSE
A full driver’s license must have been held for at least 12 months and must be presented at the start of the rental. The renter must be 20 years of age.
INSURANCE, LIABILITY, AND DAMAGES
Lessee’s liability is subject to change with added insurance options. CDW is mandatory for rental vehicles in Iceland. Lessee’s liability with CDW is 450.000 ISK. That amount can increase. Firstly, due to CDW insurance limitations. Secondly, should the lessee’s action be deemed unlawful, the full 450.000 ISK deductibles will be charged immediately upon return if the camper is damaged. The vehicle will then immediately enter a standardized third-party procedure of damage cost evaluation. If the damages do not reach the 450.000 ISK deductible, the difference will be refunded to the lessee.
CampEasy will provide all reasonable assistance and reparations if problems occur during the rental. The hirer will report any problems as soon as possible in order for Campeasy to assist and offer reparations. Refunds will not be given if problems are not reported during the rental.
The lessee and the responsible driver must check road.is/umferdin.is website for up-to-date information regarding road status and vedur.is website for weather conditions and weather warnings no adhering to the advice there might result in their insurance being void and/or extra costs.
Free/Included, Premium, Zero Risk insurance and Super Service Roadside Assistance are null and void if the lessee drives on closed roads i.e. roads marked red on road.is as Closed, Closed/Impassable and Driving Prohibited. The lessee and the responsible driver must check road.is/umferdin.is regularly to avoid those types of roads.
RIVER CROSSINGS
We offer insurance options to allow for river crossings on our 4×4 models. Without these insurance options, river crossing is forbidden and non-4×4 vehicles are not allowed to cross rivers.
A river crossing is somewhat dangerous, and if you intend to venture onto F-Roads, please read the River Crossing article.
For more information on the insurance required to cross rivers, please read the Vehicle Insurance in Iceland article.

SUPER SERVICE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE
Please note this service covers the entire cost but it is not a 24/7 service. There might be waiting time involved depending on the time of day, location and availability.
In case of needing roadside assistance on f-roads the waiting time will be substantial due to accessibility or lack of and the remoteness of the area.
FUEL, WATER, AND OIL
The rental car will have a full tank of fuel. The car needs to be returned full.
If the fuel tank is not full at return fuel refill will be charged on Visa/MasterCard.
Maintaining water and oil levels on the camper is the lessee’s responsibility. Any cost incurred will be reimbursed upon production of a receipt.
GPS / TACHOMETER / DRIVER GUIDE EQUIPMENT
Lessee’s responsibilities
Lessee agrees to the presence of the information, safety, and security system onboard the camper. It’s a tablet GPS system and accelerometer that monitors kilometers, location, condition, and treatment of the camper. This information is not accessible by the lessee and not visible in the camper itself. You are responsible for any loss or damage to the unit and its accessories. If the unit and/or its accessories are lost or damaged so as to, in our sole opinion, require repair or replacement, you will pay us its repair or full retail cost, which may be as much as $499. The reason for the installment of the equipment is a response to factors related to the nature of campervan rental in Iceland. These factors include but are not limited to: the environmental preservation of Iceland, the need for precise and prompt response to emergencies, and preventative maintenance of the campers. The safety and security system can also be used in the case of deviations that could violate the conditions of the rental contract, or when accidents occur.
Owners responsibilities
CampEasy accepts that campervan locations in real-time are confidential and will only be accessible to CampEasy employees and will not be shared with any third party. CampEasy will limit the use of this equipment and the relevant data to search and rescue, camper and lessee’s safety, upholding conditions, emergencies, and preventative maintenance when applicable.
SMOKING
All campers are non-smoking vehicles at least 30.000 ISK fine for infractions.
TAKING THE CAMPERVAN OUT OF THE COUNTRY
Taking the campervan out of the country is forbidden. If it were to happen it will be treated as theft and can result in criminal charges.

Responsible Tourism
We’ve set out some goals for a better future
We at CampEasy aim to run a responsible camper rental and travel agency and we set goals to limit the impact our business has on the environment and our society.
To that effect, CampEasy has signed a statement of intention to operate responsibly, a framework set forth by the Icelandic Tourism industry and FESTA.
Preservation of nature
Renew fleet to decrease pollution. Modern cars are produced CO2 and the production itself is more regulated, both in regards to materials used and waste management.
Using only biodegradable soaps and products when possible.
Encouraging our customers to leave a smaller footprint.
To „re-use“ food products and share essentials with other camper travelers. We provide them with a special section in our lobby to leave food products for the next customer.
Encourage sorting and not using disposable products during the trip.
Not using disposable products in the camper or during operations at CampEeasy.
Improving our own sorting and recycling of waste.
Employee rights
Honoring union regulations and employment contracts.
Creating a pleasant environment in the workplace with locker rooms, good facilities and changing rooms.
Treating employees with respect, equality, and fairness.
Clearly outlining responsibilities and duties, using training checklists and regular meetings.
Sponsoring our employees when they choose public transportation.
Positive effect on the local community
Shopping at the local businesses when possible.
Helping ICE-SAR with regular donations. This is particularly relevant to a camper rental and any business in the tourism industry that encourages excursions out of Reykjavík, as they ICE-SAR is the strongest safety net available in Iceland.
Participating in charities for children. A charity category with limited relevance to the industry but a personal choice with the management at CampEasy.
Ensuring customer safety
Setting up a safety monitor from SafeTravel where our customers will see live updates of the conditions in Iceland.
Sending out weather warnings to customers when the forecast is looking rough in areas around Iceland.
Informing our customers properly of the best ways to travel around Iceland and making sure they understand the dangers and how to avoid them.
Updating our manuals and guides that we place in the campers. All the information needs to be relevant and up to date.
Ensuring our emergency services have safety nets and redundancies. Our customer needs to be able to reach us at all times.
