Welcome to Vanlife Iceland!

Congrats on booking your next adventure 🙌 You’re about to set off on an exploration around the land of fire and ice. We are ready for you with majestic waterfalls, ice-blue glaciers, deep fjords, plenty of hot springs, and much much more.

This blog will help you plan your travel arrangements to make sure you arrive in Iceland relaxed and ready to explore!

Arrival ✈️

Your van will be ready for pickup at 2pm on arrival day, the first day of your booking. The location is just 5 min away from Keflavik International Airport (KEF) and we offer free shuttle service from there within office hours (booked closer to the time). We recommend to land before noon but of course, it’s fine to arrive a little later. If you are going to land later than 3pm, please let us know so we can arrange a contactless van pick up.

Meeting Point on Day 1 🚐

Once you have picked up your van, head over to a supermarket to get some supplies for the week and then hit the road! There’s a lot to explore on day one, including a hike to a hot spring river. We will meet at our first camp site that evening, where your guides will be there to welcome you! It is about 2.5 hours drive from the airport.

Departure 👋

You will have to return your van by 2pm on departure day, the final day of your booking. We recommend booking departing flights after 3pm the same day. If you can, we highly recommend staying in Reykjavik over the weekend. We will be going out for drinks in Reykjavik that evening for a little closing gathering and we hope you can join.

Van & Campsite facilities 🍽️

The vans come with a well equipped kitchen, our guides will also set up a grill each night which you can also cook on if you’d like! They’ll let you know when to stock up on provisions throughout the week, with supermarket and additional restaurant recommendations. The vans will also come with bedding (sheets, duvet covers, pillows and blankets) making them very cosy!

Our campsites will have toilets, showers and often a kitchen area to wash dishes, if you prefer not to do this in your van.
