Secret Lagoon – The Oldest Swimming Pool in Iceland

The Secret Lagoon, known locally as Gamla Laugin (an old pool), is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland. It was made in 1891 at Hverahólmi, a geothermal area near Flúðir a small village located in the Southern Region, it is just a few “steps” away from the Golden Circle route, Iceland´s most famous attraction but its a place totally worth stopping by if you are in the neighborhood. What makes the Secret Lagoon so special compared to other lagoons in Iceland is the rich natural resources of warm water coming from hot springs. Vaðmálahver, Básahver, or Litli Geysir (active geyser which spouts every few minutes, showing off for the guests), providing 100% of the water supply.
